Day 120 of our World cruise. May 4, 2025.
Today our World cruise came to an end. We traveled for four months, and 40,204 miles circumnavigating the world. We crossed the equator four times. We also crossed the international dateline once, and the prime meridian twice. We visited 51 ports of call in 20 countries. We crossed 3 oceans and set foot on 5 continents. Our ship, the MSC Magnifica had passengers and crew from 85 different countries. Communication was done in 7 languages. We went on 35 different excursions including 2 overland excursions where we left the ship and stayed in over the water tiki huts in French Polynesia and the Maldives. We even visited friends and former neighbors in Sydney, Australia.
It has been a truly amazing journey that we will never forget.
We checked out of our cabin at 8:00 am. Our bags were picked up last night before and ready to be transferred to the port. We went to the main dining room for breakfast and then disembarked the ship at 8:45. We cleared customs quickly and collected our bags. The car and driver we reserved for transfer to the Rome Airport Hilton was there ready for us.
We checked into the Hilton around lunchtime. Our friend Ivan from Italy is coming over and we will spend the rest of today and tomorrow with him. Then the next day we will fly back home and get back into reality.
An amazing, wonderful four months.
