Day 49 of our World cruise.  February 21, 2025.

Our position today is docked in port in Tahiti, French Polynesia in the city of Papeete.

Today we had two wonderful excursions.  The first one in the morning was a catamaran ride around the island with a stop for snorkeling and swimming.  Absolutely amazing!  Dolphins showed up to play.

Air Tahiti landing at the airport.

We were back at the ship for a shower and some lunch, then back ashore for a panoramic tour of the east coast of Tahiti.

Day 48 of our World cruise.  February 20, 2025.

Our location today:

Today was our last sea day before arriving in Tahiti tomorrow morning.  It was a very relaxing day with a nice afternoon nap, a wonderful dinner in the dining room, and a unique show with an incredible mime.

Day 47 of our World cruise.  February 19, 2025.

Our position today.  Still in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

We have a sea day today and another tomorrow, then we will arrive in Tahiti.

Today was the first installment of Master Chef at Sea.  A new contest event going on now.  We went through a process where ultimately eight contestants were chosen.  The first process was a 20 question competition.  Highest scores moved on.

I hung out at the pool and Suzanne went to the first day of competition.

Tonight’s production show was a Frank Sinatra impersonation.

Day 46 of our World cruise.  February 18, 2025.

Our position today, off the coast of Pitkairn Island.

Pirkairn Island is just about midway between the Panama Canal and New Zealand.  It is the last and only British territory left in the Pacific.  It is where Fletcher Christian and the rest of the mutineers from the British ship Bounty went after sending Captain Bligh and others away in an open boat after taking over the ship.

Ultimately the Bounty was set ablaze and sunk in what is now known as Bounty Bay.  ( near our anchor position)

During our anchor, several Pitkairn villagers came aboard and created a market where we could buy there goods and souvenirs.

Today was a rainy day so the market was set up in the indoor pool area.

After leaving Pitkairn, we spotted another ship approaching.

Turned out this was the MV Artania.  A small German cruise ship.  Originally built for Princess Cruises in 1984 and named the Royal Princess,  by Princess Dianna, then sold to P & O Cruisees in 2005 and renamed Artemis.  In 2011 a German company purchased it and renamed it to it’s current name.

Today has actually been the first real rainy day.  Forecast is for the same tomorrow and then nice when we get to Tahiti.

Day 45 of our World Cruise.  February 17, 2025

Our position today.

We are way out in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean about halfway between South America and New Zealand.

Tomorrow we will pass by Bounty Bay Passage next to Pitkairn Island, a Territory of the UK.  Then two more days at sea before arriving at Tahiti.

Weather today was somewhat overcast with light rain.  Temps hover around 78-82 day and night.

Another relaxing day at sea.  Played bingo after dinner.  Then our show tonight was a magic show.  Very good magician.

Day 44 of our World cruise.  February 16, 2025.

Our position today.

It still amazes me that we have the technology to stay in communication from wherever we are at anytime, and to see an exact location on a map.

We have a couple of sea days before we get to Bounty Bay Passage in the Pitcairn Islands.  After that,  couple of more sea day and we will spend three days in French Polynesia.  Two days in Tahiti, and one day in Moorea.  During the second day at Tahiti and the day at Moorea, we will leave the ship overnight and stay at the Hilton Moorea Lagoon resort in an over water tiki hut room.  We are looking forward to that.

Today will be another relaxing day by the pool.  Gonna watch a movie later, and do some walking around the ship.

Day 43 of our World cruise.  February 15, 2025.

Today we are anchored off shore of Easter Island.  Land of the Moui.  We went ashore and checked it all out.

We stopped at a little lunch place.  The food was not little, and we had some guests.

At dinner tonight, our wait staff brought me a birthday cake.
