Day 10 of our World cruise.  January 13, 2025

Today is our third full day in a row at sea and we will be pulling into port at Mindelo, Cape Verde early tomorrow morning.  The Cape Verde Islands are just south of the Canary Islands, and off the coast of Western Africa, even with the country of Senegal. We passed through the Canaries yesterday.  Cape Verde became an Independent country in 1992.

Weather now is very tropical with daytime temps and nighttime temps very close, between 78 and 82.  We are very surprised at how quick this cruise is going.  It seems as if we just got on the ship and it’s already day 10.

After breakfast this morning Suzanne and Connie Jo went and did crafts.  They made decorative plates. Steve and I went to a Cape Verde lecture on the activities we will do on the Island.

During this cruise one of the many activities is the MSC World Games.  The passengers are divided into four groups.  Ice, Fire, Water, and Earth.  We are in the Fire group.  There is a short competition every sea day at 11:30am.  Today’s competition was how high you could stack shoes in 5 minutes.  Our Fire team won today’s task, by 2 cm.

  2. The pile of shoes is one of the World Games. The team who piles the shoes the highest wins that game.
