Day 27 of our World cruise.  January 30, 2025.

Our position today:

We left Puerto Madryn, Argentina last night and are on our way to Port Stanley, Falkland Islands.

Today we slept in a little, then had a light breakfast.  We went to a presentation in the theater about the world and how it is divided up in lines of latitude and longitude.  The equator, Tropic of Cancer, and Tropic of Capricorn.  Also the Prime meridian and International Dateline and their locations.  During our cruise we will cross the equator a total of four times. We already crossed it once as we were heading south after exiting the Mediterranean Sea.  We will cross it again after leaving western Australia and heading north to the Maldives, which are just south of India.  Then we will again cross it soon after leaving the Maldives when heading south to go around South Africa.  We will cross it for the fourth time as we head north along the west side of Africa on our way back to the Mediterranean Sea.  That final crossing of the equator will be very special.  We will cross the equator at the prime meridian.  The prime meridian is just the opposite of the international dateline and runs through Greenwich, England.  It is 0 degrees East or West, and the equator is 0 degrees North or South. Basically the center of our planet, measurement wise.  I’m sure there will be another big celebration for that crossing.
